Microsoft Global Hackathon 2021
Microsoft organised this Hackathon and it was kicked off in all regions of the globe and thousands of employees were hacking with colleagues, nonprofits, and customers, tapping into creativity, inspiration, and the power of collaboration. I had the opportunity to participate and work in collaboration with other team members on a particular project for three days. By the end, I was absolutely delighted, and very proud, to see that our project had won the overall Grand Prize this year!. The badge can be accessed on Global Hackathon 2021 Grand Prize Winner.
Google Sandbox
Google Sandbox was organised on the 8th February 2020. It was a great experience in attending this event where I have learnt a lot about several topics, for instance, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), using containers in Kubernetes Engine among others. In addition, I had the oppportunity to participate in one of the hands-on workshop: Kubernetes workshop: Orchestrating the Cloud with Kubernetes. In the latter, it was my first experience with deploying containers, provisioning a complete Kubernetes cluster using Kubernetes Engine and then breaking the application down into Microservices.
Deep Learning Indaba 2017
I am fortunate to be able to attend the first Deep Learning Indaba in 2017 held in Johannesburg. During the conference, I have presented my research work on classifying FRI and FRII radio sources using Convolutional Neural Network work and also shows the first application of Generative Adversarial Network to augment radio images.
At the end of the conference, I have been selected among the best poster presentations and have been awarded the 'Machine Learning: A probabilistic Perspective" Book as can be seen in the pictures. During the five days workshop, I have had the opportunity to meet lots of people, among whom is Nando de Freitas, who has kindly written an encouraging note in my awarded book. Also, we had a group picture with all women attending the conference.
